The Forgotten Armoire

How could I forget to post one of my favorite projects?
Maybe it was because I didn't take a before picture.
How could I forget to do that?!!!
I have no idea how this one slipped by me, but here it is...
Originally this armoire had such dark wood that you couldn't see the detail. I painted the entire piece using the color, Fluff, from The Dixie Belle Paint Company. Then I painted some of the detail areas with the color, Driftwood, also from Dixie Belle. I didn't clean my brush when I went from Fluff to Driftwood...I didn't want the driftwood color to be solid.
I covered the entire piece with clear wax, then went over it with a black wax. I added a little dark brown wax in a few areas.

Then I blended them together...
Here you can see how it looks with and without the dark waxes...

And here is the finished piece...

  4. Stunning Virginia - love the color combination! To be totally honest, I like both the dark waxed and clear waxed equally. The dark wax definitely adds depth and an aged effect. Swooning over the clock face too!
