Pumpkin On The Rust & Rust On The Pumpkin

Well, it's officially Fall, so it's time to start posting pumpkin projects. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday it was Fall 2016? It certainly doesn't feel like Fall here in Georgia. We've been having temperatures in the 90's! I hear cooler weather is coming  this week...cooler as in 80!

When I found this rust covered piece of metal, I knew just what I was going to do, even though the heat makes you think of the pool more than pumpkins!

I sketched out 3 pumpkins and started filling them in with white acrylic paint...
I used black & brown acrylics to add the detail...

The orange rust color was the perfect backdrop for white pumpkins!
Luckily, I finished the pumpkin painting just a few minutes before Irma came through as a tropical storm and knocked our power out for 3 days!

For another rusty pumpkin project...
I took this little jelly jar & painted it with the color Florida Orange from the Dixie Belle Paint Company, & glazed it with Van Dyke Brown glaze. I used Dixie Belle's Patina Collection to rust the lid, then cut a wine cork in half to use as a stem.
Then I gouged his eyes out! That sounds awful but it's kind of what happened. I used a sharp pencil and scraped the paint away to form the eyes & mouth.
So, which is your favorite...
pumpkins on rust, or rust on the pumpkin?

Desk Makeover

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this writing desk. Pretty. Practical. Great lines. But, boring!

When I looked at it, I immediately felt like it should be blue...
Bunker Hill Blue!
Bunker Hill Blue is one of the great colors offered by the Dixie Belle Paint Company.

I love the gold hardware next to the rich color of the blue.
The desk is still pretty. Still practical. But, far from boring!

All it needed was a chair!
I knew that this one would be a perfect mate for the desk...
The chair had great lines but was in bad shape.
Bunker Hill Blue gave the chair new life, worthy of sitting along side the beautiful desk.

What's your favorite shade of blue?

Sunsets And A Canvas Factory Giveaway

Is it just me or have the sunsets been especially beautiful the last year? Maybe, it's just because I'm getting older and I appreciate them more. Whatever the reason, I take a lot of sunset pictures.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then I'm sure you've seen one or fifty of my sunset pictures. I just can't help myself!
We live on a lake and our dock faces West, making for the perfect view of the show God puts on for us every evening.
If you look closely, you can see the tip of a fishing pole in a lot of my sunset pictures. Because while I'm fishing for the perfect photo, my husband is fishing for fish!

My husband is awesome and let's me sit in the front of the canoe with a glass of wine while he paddles us around...

Because my husband and sunsets on our lake are two of my favorite things, I had one of my favorite photos put on a canvas at Canvas Factory...
I simply uploaded my photo using Canvas Factory's easy to follow instructions and in about a week I had a beautiful 16 x 20 canvas that I will cherish forever!
