Throwback Thursday

It's hard to believe that it's been almost 3 years since I posted a tutorial on making origami flowers!
In anticipation of Spring,
go here to see how to make them.
They are the perfect craft for Spring.

Glammed Up Redneck Wine Glasses

We've all seen the redneck wine glasses
that are made by simply gluing a glass
candlestick onto the bottom of a mason jar.
While working on another project using candlesticks that
I bought at the dollar store,
I had an idea of a way to glam them up.
I added glitter to the empty space
where the candle would go...

I used a different color glitter for each candlestick.

Then I used E6000 to glue a mason jar onto each candlestick.

The glitter also serves the same purpose as a wine charm.
Each person can keep up with their glass by
the color glitter they have.

Glammed up redneck wine glasses...
is that an oxymoron?!!!

A St. Patrick's Day Wreath

I've seen quite a few moss covered Shamrock wreaths on Pinterest.
This is my version, and it all started with a box!

Yes, a box.
I broke down a cardboard box and drew a 4 leaf clover on it. Drawing a clover is simple...
think of each leaf petal as a heart.
I cut out the shamrock using an Xacto knife.
This was the hardest part of the whole project!

I stapled a green ribbon that will be used to
hang the wreath onto the back of the cardboard.

Then I started hot gluing moss onto the cardboard...
I left a couple of inches to fold over
and glue to the back to cover the sides.

Next I traced around an initial onto scrapbook paper.
This picture is just to show the initial and the paper.
You will actually trace the initial in the reverse on the back of the paper so you won't see pencil marks.
Cut the initial out about an inch larger than initial.
Everywhere there is a curve or corner, cut slits into the paper so it will fold nicely around the initial.
Use tacky glue to adhere the paper to the initial.

Glue the paper covered initial onto the
moss covered shamrock using hot glue.

Do you have the luck of the Irish?
This Shamrock wreath was easy and inexpensive to make...
a little messy, but well worth it.
