We've all heard the phrase, third time's a charm!
Thank goodness, for this table makeover it only took me 3 times to be satisfied with it.
I bought the table from my friend, The Picker Chic. She always gives me a great deal. So, even though I didn't really care for the style of the table, it was a deal I couldn't refuse.
The table had 3 wheels. It was supposed to have 4. Why did it need wheels?!!! I removed them because, again, why did it need wheels?
When I first saw the table, I thought I'd paint it black with gold on the arches. But, I also wanted to try Pink Champagne from Dixie Belle.
Pink Champagne is a beautiful pale pink, but it didn't go with the style of the table.
So, I moved on to Bunker Hill Blue...
And, I added metallic gold to the arches...
NO!!!! Still not happy!
I finally decided to go in a completely different direction.
Remember the patina chest I did last year?
Well, I decided that may be a good look for this odd table.
So, I gave the table a coat of Bronze Patina Paint.
Better already!!!
The patina spray reacts with the patina paint while the paint is still wet. So, I painted a second coat of patina paint, then added the spray to the wet paint. Rather than spray the Blue Patina Spray, I poured it into a bowl to paint it on with a brush.
The reaction starts to happen quickly, but can take up to 6 hours to complete.
I worked in sections so that the paint wouldn't dry before I could paint on the blue spray.
You never know quite what you're going to get with the patina. That's what I love...the surprise!
I think I'll stop at number 3!
