Sugar Molds & Succulents

Sugar molds have been popular in home decorating for quite some time. I remember first seeing them 20 years ago at a flea market. I wanted one, but didn't want to pay the price they were asking.
I recently was able to purchase some at a wholesale price.
I usually see them filled with candles, but I didn't want to go that route. So, I painted one with chalk paint from The Dixie Belle Paint Company.
Then I distressed it...
I love how the barn red looked on the sugar mold...
It would have looked great with candles, but again,
I had something else in mind.
I added Dollar Store succulents to the sugar mold...
And, the best part is that I can't kill them!

  1. I like your spin on using sugar molds! Red is my favorite color and so these caught my eye. I especially love red chalk paint with dark wax - gives the color such depth. I think I need to make a trip to the dollar store because the real succulents I planted almost all died.

  2. This is adorable - a great repurpose. And the color is unusual too because we usually see lots of greys and whites, it really stands out. I just love repurposes, my blog is all about them! Come visit me and see.. #Sizzleinto Summer
