Oh Oh Dominoe

I have been having a lot of fun lately experimenting with alcohol inks and dominoes.
I love how you never really know what you are going to get when you add the ink to the dominoes.
They turn out really pretty with different colors of ink...

Or, you can take it a step further and use rubber stamps to add a design...

You can add embellishments like this peace sign bead...
You can even add alcohol ink to change the color of the bead...

Here I decided I wanted a little more contrast, so I inked over the bead once more, using a turquoise...
Then I decided I needed some of the turquoise on the dominoe...
  Much better...

You can continue to add more and more color.
To get this color, I simply kept adding ink until the colors became very muddy. Then I added a scrapbooking embellishment and some ball chain...

Here I added a rubber stamp design, a torn piece of a map, some small beads, and more of the scrapbooking embellishments and ball chain...

I finished each dominoe by applying a coat of Glossy Essentials and using E6000 to glue a bail to the back.

So then, once I was all excited about my pendants, my son came home from college and wanted to experiment with the alcohol inks. He used them on some tiles and showed me up by making this...
Once he had the ink on the tile the way he liked it, he used a fine tip Sharpie to add detail to make a hot air balloon. Show off!!!

Have you tried alcohol inks? If so, what did you use them on?

  9. This is one of my favorite crafts to do with my kids. I love how you added the ball chain into the design. I had never thought of that. Will definitely be trying it next time. Your son's tile is just beautiful. That would be such a great idea for coasters.
