I bought this chair at my local Goodwill...
It was in pretty good shape except for the worn out and faded fabric covering the seat. There were actually 3 layers of different fabric on the seat. It would have looked better with just some new fabric, but I couldn't resist adding a little paint.
I had some fabric left over from a lampshade project and I purchased an acrylic paint. The paint color is called Sea Glass by Americana.
Typically, I would paint the whole chair with the color and then add a darker color to the recessed areas. But, this time I wanted to try something a little different. So, I painted on the acrylic paint making sure it got down into the grooves...
Then, using a damp rag, I wiped the chair down leaving the paint just in the grooves...
Just a touch of sea glass and some new fabric was all this chair needed!

I love the hint of blue. It really compliments the fabric. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric...so much so that I actually own it, too! I will hopefully be using it on a chair, as well.

ReplyDeleteI love GW finds! I like the highlighting of the chair details and your left over fabric is great! Thanks for sharing at the Rock N Share.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love that sea grass colour. Thanks for sharing at our party this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea just to highlight the chair details instead of painting the entire thing. Love the sea glass color too and the way it picks up the aqua in the fabric. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use the contrast paint that way and not clart the whole chair in it, taking away some of its former elegance! Smashing, love it!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love the sea glass!
