"JOY" Wood Blocks

You can create unique, inexpensive artwork using lumber!
Yes, lumber!
You may remember the wood block I posted at Halloween. You can revisit that here.
A 2 inch by 8 inch by 8 foot piece of lumber costs around $5 and you can get  many projects out of that one piece of wood. I like to have mine cut into 10 inch pieces.
I have created several blocks for Christmas...

For this block, I painted a base coat of white acrylic paint. When it was dry, I applied vinyl letters that I cut out with my Cricut to spell the word, JOY.  Then I painted over the entire block with blue acrylic paint. Using the same white paint as the base coat, I painted a simple tree. I peeled off the vinyl letters and gave the block a good sanding and added buttons to the tree for ornaments.

For my second block, I did the same technique as above using white and red. This time I painted a more whimsical tree...

For my third block, I gave my wood a base coat of green, added my letters, and did a top coat of red. I peeled off the vinyl letters and sanded the block. Then I added ornaments that are just circles cut from burlap. I added a little paint to the circles and glued them onto the block using E6000.

I like to stand the blocks on a table or shelf, but you can add hardware to hang it on the wall. The possibilities are endless. I'm sure this is not the last you will see of the 2 x 8 lumber! My wheels are already spinning for Valentine's Day!

  45. The most unique way to celebrate Friendship Day would be hold a gathering for your favorate images, quotes,
hd wallpapers, messages, pics, photos and many more... Be that as it may, this thought needs a touch of arranging and exertion as you have to choose where to post(facebook, whatssapp, twitter, instagrame etc..) Once that is done, ring your pals and simply have your indulgence !
