A friend gave me this old milk can a couple of years ago and it has remained on my front porch ever since...
It was a great decorative piece. But, when another friend gave a small unfinished table top, I knew I wanted to add it to the milk can and make it a functional piece.
So, I stenciled a design onto the wood...
Then I went over the table top with VooDoo gel stain in the color Up In Smoke. I love this gel stain from The Dixie Belle Paint Company because it is water based. And that makes the clean up so easy!
Using the stain over the paint tones down the black a bit. Of course, you could stain first then add the black paint.
I used a little E6000 to attach the top to the can and it is the perfect little side table for my porch!

ReplyDeleteNice. I love when people re-purpose things like the milk cans. You can find lots of them in my old home state of Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I have four of those milk cans....hmmmm maybe I should make one into a table!
ReplyDeleteI just made one of these too! I used barn wood for the top for an end table on my mom's deck. Love how yours turned out!
ReplyDeleteOh this is beautiful. I love the stenciling and how you aged it. Featuring when my party opens tonight. Thanks for sharing!
