Blue & White China Inspired Bunny

As an ambassador for Signopoly, I get to play with some of their awesome wood cut outs. I see so many adorable whimsical bunnies for Easter, but I wanted to go classic with this one. And there's nothing more classic than blue & white china. I knew the French Ceramics transfer from Re*design With Prima would help me easily achieve the look I wanted.
I painted the wooden bunny with the color Fluff from the Dixie Belle Paint Company. Once the paint was dry, I began cutting out pieces of the transfer & rubbing them onto the bunny.
I didn't want the entire bunny covered with the transfer, so I just added it to the bottom & up one side.
I gave the bunny a wiggly eye, & a pretty ribbon & tied it in a bow around the bunny's neck.
All this sweet bunny needed was a fluffy tail. I used E6000 to adhere a 3" furry pompom to my faux china bunny.
What a sweet way to greet my guests for Easter!

Spring Candles With Yogurt Jars

Have you been saving your Oui yogurt jars waiting for the perfect project? Me too!

Well, look no further for a project to use them in. These Spring candles are quick & easy, & so much fun to make.

Take off the labels & run them through the dishwasher. Then pick out a pretty patterned napkin to decoupage to the outside of the jar. I chose a Spring/Summer pattern, but this project would be great for any season or holiday.

Separate the layers of the napkin so you are only left with the top layer with the pattern. If you skip this step the napkin won't adhere properly.
Add a generous amount of ModPodge to the outside of the jar.
Place the center of the napkin on the jar. As you work around the jar, the napkin will have a little give to push it up to the rim of the jar, but be carful not to tear the napkin. A few wrinkles are okay...your candles will be so pretty that you won't really notice them in the end.
Add more ModPodge over the napkin in the back where the napkin will overlap.
Coat the bottom of the jar with ModPodge.
Use the paintbrush & more ModPodge to pull down a small section of the napkin onto the jar.
Continue this around the bottom of the jar until all of the napkin is glued down.
Coat the entire jar with a final coat of ModPodge, then leave upside down on wax paper to dry.

You can buy candle making supplies at your local craft store, but I chose to use Farm Finds Candle Co. & placed my order for several scents online.

The kit comes with scented wax, wicks, stickers to hold the wicks in place, & chopsticks that are connected at one end.

While the wax is melting in the microwave, place the wick in the jar, then thread the wick into the chopsticks and position the wick to the center of the jar.

Stir the wax to help melt any lumps of unmelted wax.
Gently pour the wax into the jar leaving about a half inch at the top. You can fill 3 Oui jars with one tub of wax.
Once the candle has hardened, remove the chopsticks & trim the wick.
Now for the hardest part... it is recommended that you wait 7 days before burning the candle. Even though you can't light them for a week, they are still pretty to look at, & they smell wonderful even when not lit!

Once you can light them, they are even more beautiful...

and, the scents are divine! I especially love the Mint Mojito.
So, how many candles will you be able to make with all those yogurt jars you've been hoarding?

Farmhouse Bench Makeover

When my friend, Debbie, & her husband purchased a farm, this bench was left behind...

Although neglected & abandoned, Debbie wanted to save it & incorporate it somewhere in the new house they were building.
So, I started sanding away at all the loose, chipping paint.
Once I finished sanding, I painted the bench with the color, Fluff, from the Dixie Belle Paint Company.
When the Fluff was dry, I used the Royal Damask stencil from Dixie Belle and randomly stenciled some areas of the bench. I used the color Hampton Olive from Dixie Belle's new paint line, Silk.

Once the paint was dry, I sanded over the bench to maintain the rustic look.

Debbie gave the bench a beautiful spot to hold some of her plants in a beautiful sunny room.

Anchors Away

 Timing is everything!

I was doing a couple of painting projects for a friend, & she offered to give me a desk. It just so happened that she delivered it when my son & daughter in law were visiting. They just so happened to be looking for a desk. So, the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

But, the desk needed a little love...

This was the perfect project for me to try out the new paint line, Silk, from the Dixie Belle Paint Company.

I chose the color, Anchor.

The top portion of the desk was a little too traditional for my son & his wife, so I only painted the bottom section.

Once I had painted the desk with Anchor, I added stripes of gold gilding wax to the front of the desk. I added painters tape & then rubbed the wax on with my finger.

I also rubbed the gilding wax on the metal hardware.

My first experience with Silk was amazing & I love the transformation of this piece.
