What's the best thing about Winter?
Knowing that Spring is coming!
I keep seeing posts about Spring and gardening popping up on all the social media outlets.
One of those posts is on AllYou.com.
And, I am thrilled that one of my projects is included in that post about DIY Garden Markers. They featured my fork & cork plant markers!
When I received the email from AllYou.com that my project was featured, I had just finished curating a board for Hometalk about DIY garden markers. I guess this proves that everyone is starting to get Spring fever!
Since we're talking about Spring, I thought I'd share this tray table makeover from a few months ago. The $6 tray table was solid black...
I left the base black and painted the top with Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the color Dropcloth.
I guess I was already thinking Spring, since I added a flower to the table.
I used the transfer method where you print out an image (this one was found on the Graphics Fairy website), then lay the image ink side down, and rub with a pencil to transfer the ink.
I went over the image with a black fine tip Sharpie, then I sanded the edges of the table just a little.
Now, here's the part where it could have been a disaster.
When I added a sealer to the table, the ink bled. I have used permanent Sharpie markers on other projects with no problem of the ink bleeding. But, this was a different case.
BUT, I loved how it looked. So, I continued on and let it bleed...
This was one of those happy mistakes!
Now, the tray is ready to take out on the porch and enjoy lunch while watching the Spring buds pop up their pretty little heads!

How lovely to be featured at All You! I love their magazine but have never visited the website. I'll check it out. Your little table is lovely and the bleeding just makes it look more like a sketch to me!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your projects!
