What The Kids Are Creating

I have shared many projects that my kids have created over the last couple of years. I have said over and over that they need their own blog! But, since that doesn't seem likely (anytime soon anyway), I'll just keep posting some of the things they create here on my own blog.

They aren't exactly kids. John is 23 and is a recent college graduate with a degree in architecture. Carrie will be 21 this month and is a Junior in college, majoring in fashion. They're a good combination of my husband and me. They were fortunate enough to get the math gene from their dad (something I never got)!!! And, they're creative!

Today I'm sharing one of Carrie's latest projects.

We've all seen old rakes used to hang jewelry. Carrie took it a step further and added a little whimsy. She tore pieces of scrapbook paper and used ModPodge to adhere them to the handle.

Some of the prongs were so bent that the necklaces slid off, so she used E6000 and glued on some half pearls. She found these in the scrapbook section of the craft store.
It added a little extra crafty touch and
 keeps the jewelry in place.

It looks great hanging in her bathroom!

Carrie has been busy changing her bedroom and bathroom. I'll be sharing lots more soon. For now, here's a look back at a mural she painted while I was out of town. It seems every time I go out of town without her, something major happens in her room!

  3. Wow, she's quite talented! You're a nice mom letting her paint her room. My 14 year old would love to do that, but I'm afraid of what it would look like when she was done! The rake is adorable.
