I love my home state of Georgia!

It's like an old sweet song.

So, it's always fun to create state pride projects, like this one.

My son put together a pallet style board and I stained it with VooDoo Gel Stain in the color Tobacco Road. I love this stain from the Dixie Belle Paint Company because it's water based which makes for easy clean up.

 

I cut strips of fabric in different colors and patterns...

I applied the fabric to the wood with ModPodge and used a hotel key card to smoothe out the wrinkles...

Then I added a little more of the stain t the edges of the fabric...

I painted a bead board cutout of Georgia with the color, Gravel Road, then added a little whitewash glaze, and glued it to the board using E6000...

I bought a balsa wood Home from Michael's, painted it with the color Mermaid Tail, and glued it to the board...

Pew Redo

I recently had the opportunity to buy church pews from a wedding venue. I bought two thinking I might use them both at the table on my screen porch. Pews can be a little low for a table so I decided I just wanted one for inside my house. The problem is that they were both 12 feet long! That's awesome, but I didn't have a spot for a 12 foot pew! So, my son, who gets suckered into helping me with lots of projects, cut one of the pews in half...

Then he reattached the end...

There were a couple of damaged places that I filled in with Swamp Mud. I let it dry, then sanded it smooth.

I painted the pew with the color Drop Cloth from the Dixie Belle Paint Company.

My daughter made a cushion for the pew. Notice how I manage to get my kids to do things for me? I must have done something right.

The pew was a little too clean for my taste, so I added a little Grunge Glaze. Now it's perfect!

Now let's talk about that ironing board. It was my mother's first ironing board when she and my father married in 1934. It has been perfect as a sofa table!

I have a large open floor plan, so I placed the pew on the other side of the ironing board/sofa table so it faces my table and kitchen. It's perfect for when people gather at the table and we need more seating.

Now I'm in the process of covering my chairs with the reverse side of the fabric.

And, don't worry, the part that was cut away from the pew won't go to waste. I already have a plan for it!

Child's Chaise Lounge Makeover

When I saw this adorable child's chaise lounge chair at a junk store in Atlanta, I couldn't resist!

The cushion was in good shape, except for being terribly faded.
So, I got out my Dixie Belle paint and covered the cushion with the color, Drop Cloth...

Once the cushion was dry, I stenciled on a design using the colors Florida Orange and Peacock...

I finished it off with spray wax, also from Dixie Belle. Yes, you heard right...spray wax! Just spray and wipe. I love it because it doesn't leave a tacky feel. And, it can be used for indoor and outdoor projects.

Once again, this was one of those pieces I couldn't let go of. I don't have small children, but hopefully grandchildren will come along someday (no time soon, kids)! Or, maybe my dog will enjoy it!

The Posh Pet

I'm sure this is not the first table you have seen turned into a pet bed. They are all over Pinterest! But, when I saw this table at an estate sale, I knew that it was going to be my version of a pet bed table...

So, the doors came off and I went to work...

I filled the holes left when I removed the doors with wood filler, let it dry, then sanded it smooth. 

I painted the table, inside and out, with Dried Sage from 

The Dixie Belle Paint Company.

I found a magnetic locker chandelier to add to the table, so I screwed a metal plate into the inside of the table...

The chandelier can be easily moved around inside the table or removed.

I made a cover for a pillow using fabric that I already had.It went perfect with the dried sage.

It still needed a little something, so I made curtains...

Now, it's a posh pet palace!
