While out pickin' last week I found this antique gas heater...
The man at the store said that they don't really sell very well in the summer, so he would take $10 for it.
With a price like that, how could I refuse?
I love the detail..
I knew she would look great in the garden painted a bright color.
I have a spot in my yard with a piece of plywood that I use to spray paint on. But, this beauty weighs a ton! I'm sure it was quite comical to see me trying to lug her around. I finally gave up and just spray painted her next to the driveway. Don't tell my husband!
I took these things out before I painted her...
They had a nice patina.
She turned out beautiful...
She was so heavy, that she didn't end up where I wanted to put her, but she fits in perfectly by my fence...
I did a search to see how much heaters like this are worth. I probably should have looked that up before I painted her! They can fetch quite a lot of money. Oops!
Oh well, for $10 and a little paint, I'm happy with the way she heats up my garden!

This is WAY beyond fantastic -- and 10.00???? These people really (thankfully) don't know what they're giving away sometimes. What a great idea to paint it that bright color AND to think of removing those inserts to keep as is.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant!! Love it! The color is fab!

I love the color you chose to paint it. Years ago (maybe 40!) my mom found some small antique heaters like this and she removed the tops and made some wonderful little stools with the legs. But I like your idea and it maintains the original piece in tact.
ReplyDeleteThe color is awesome:) Bright and cheery!
ReplyDeletePerfect color!!
ReplyDeleteI found your website from Southern Lovely. I just started a new blog and I would love for you to follow me, too! http://naptimenothings.blogspot.com/

Wow, that was such a cool find. I wouldn't have known it was a heater.

It is BEAUTIFUL and I love this idea. I'm going to look for one of these now! (Once I spray-primed too close to the car and got over-spray ALL OVER IT. I was out there with a gas-rag scrubbing it off for two hours!)
ReplyDeleteWow what a lovely way to recycle the heater. Love the color you choose.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week,
