Chalkboard Tray/Wine Rack

I love chalkboard paint!
You can use it on just about anything.
I found a wine rack with a removable tray top at the Salvation Army...

It was in really good shape but not my style. My husband tagged along on the thrifting day when I found it. He, of course, thought it was fine the way it was. What is it with men that they think it is a sin to paint wood?
At first I thought I'd paint a scene on the tray. But, then I decided chalkboard paint was just what the tray needed. So, I painted the tray with the chalkboard paint. Everything else I gave a thin wash of black paint. You can still see the wood grain but it gives it a richer appearance.

 Bye, bye oak!

Then I painted a wine glass and bottle on the tray in white.
Now all it needs is a party!
 Cheers!

  3. I'd never think of using chalk board paint like that but what a great idea. I donated a wine rack identical to that years ago to Goodwill, seeing what you did I wish I had it back! Visiting from Savvy Southern Style WOW party, I've posted too.

  8. Love the idea that used chalk on it! Haha.....I agree why are men like that? Sometimes when I tell my husband ideas I have for transforming our furniture you'd think I'd just admitted to crime the way he looks!
