This is another yard sale find...
Of course, you recognize the base. But, do you recognize what they used for a table top?
If you said it's a cut piece of a ping pong table you'd be right!
Why would anyone put something that ugly with something that beautiful?!! I guess you could call it beauty and the beast.
Rather than remove the ping pong table top, I decided to paint it with Dixie Belle Paint using the color Barn Red.
I had my son cut and miter old yardsticks to use as trim. Then I nailed them to the edge of the painted top.
Once the trim was added, I used Dixie Belle black glaze to antique the top of the table and the yardsticks.
I had planned on selling it, but, once again, it's something I can't let go of. However, it is on display at Junk Mama's General Store as part of the front porch Christmas decor. I added an old sewing machine to the table. The owner of the store, Cindy, sewed some pompoms to the toes of socks that she got at the Dollar Tree to make elf socks. They made the perfect addition to the sewing table and surrounding decor...
If you're ever in Fayetteville, Georgia, stop by Junk Mama's General Store. There are lots of wonderful things that are actually for sale! Just not this table (for now)!

Now that is a sweet upcycle! Love the paint color and the yardstick trim is too perfect. I bet the store owner gets lots of enquiries about how much she's selling it for!
ReplyDeleteYou sure gave it a new life, and the red it perfect for Christmas. I also like the yardstick detail.
