Embroidery Hoop Gift Card Holder

Gift cards have become a popular gift at Christmas time. This embroidery hoop project is a cute way to give a gift card and is easy to make. Hang it on your tree as an ornament and then the gift cards don't get lost under the tree!

Paint the outer piece of a 5 inch embroidery hoop with acrylic paint. You can also leave it natural if you prefer.

You could use fabric, but I chose to use scrapbook paper for this gift card holder.
Trace around the inner hoop onto one of the pieces of scrapbook paper...

Cut out the circle about 1/4 inch larger than what is drawn...

Cut slits in the paper up to the pencil line. This will make the paper easier to fold around the hoop.

Repeat these steps on the second piece of paper. But, this piece should be half of a circle...

Add tacky glue around the inner hoop and fold the first circle around the inner hoop.

Repeat for the half circle...

Add the outer hoop...

You could stop there, but why? Let's add some embellishments. I added 3 small silver stars...

I painted 3 wooden letters with the same red acrylic paint and then glued them onto the stars...

I glued on a piece of ric rac...

I finished it off with ribbon so it could be hung from the tree...

The recipient will appreciate that you took the time to make a "not so personal" gift a little more special.
