The Painted Chair

My children really need to start their own blog!
It seems more and more often I post projects that they have created. This is another one of those posts.

My daughter, Carrie, wanted this chair for her room...
 Really?!!!
I asked her what in the world she was going to do with it. Of course, she's like her mother and can't leave anything alone!
She said she was going to paint it.
I'm not one to stifle creativity, so of course I bought it for her.

Here's the finished product...

It turned out fantastic!

She used acrylic paint and watered it down just a tiny bit.
I'm sure fabric paint would work also.
I shared this on Facebook and someone told me that you can wax over it to soften up the paint a little. It is a little stiff, but then again, so are wooden chairs, so it doesn't bother Carrie. And it's her chair after all!

So, if you have a chair and are afraid to try upholstery...
paint it!

  4. Hey artsy (not sure what your real name is), I discovered your post over at the linky party on bloomdesignsonline.com I absolutely love what you've done with this chair. How long did it take you to complete? It could also be cool to use a stencil of a portrait. Thanks for sharing this artsy idea!
Anyhow, I hope that you’ll check out my latest project here (http://youtu.be/uhRB1PmO61A) and let me know what you think. All the best.

  6. It's gorgeous, I would put up with sitting on a chair with slightly stiff fabric if it looked as good as this - Or just put it in the corner and look at it's loveliness!

  16. Wow! That is fantastic! Was it a consignment chair to start with? It reminds me of a McKenzie/Childs piece (that would probably cost thousands of dollars). I saw your post over at A Stroll Thru Life's blog party.

  20. I'm interested in what they mean by "waxing over it"? What kind of wax?
