What’s the
number one New Year’s resolution? Losing weight. How about this year we have a
resolution not to lose? Not to lose our keys that is! Be creative and make a
stylish key holder that will fit your personal décor style.
Start by cutting a board long enough to accommodate the number of hooks you need. The board seen here is part of a fence picket I cut to be 18 inches long.
Cut a piece of decorative paper to fit on the board.
Attach the paper to the board using ModPodge.
Add ModPodge over the top of the paper too.
Rub over the paper with your fingers to get out the bubbles. Wrinkles are okay.
While still damp, sand the edges of the paper.
Allow the paper to dry, then use a rag
to age the board with stain.
Drill holes into spoons at the point where they
need to bend to become hooks.
My husband did this for me because
I'm chicken when it comes to certain tools!
I'm not afraid of a screwdriver to I screwed the
spoons to the board all by myself!
Notice that I attached the spoons face down.
That is so the decorative part of the spoon handle will show.
That is so the decorative part of the spoon handle will show.
Then carefully bend the spoon to form a hook.
Add picture hangers to the back and your
spoon key holder is ready to hang.
How cute would this be in your kitchen?
It could also be used to dry herbs,
or hang aprons,
or hang your hat,
or hang your jewelry,
or....
the uses are endless!

ReplyDeleteVery creative idea and looks cute :)
ReplyDeleteI think a herb drying rack would be very useful. Love the way you finish the fence post. I wonder if the bowl of the spoon could be bent outward for a double hook?
