Last summer, my husband and I attempted to make a bench from a headboard & footboard that I bought at Goodwill. You know the kind... you see them all over Blogs & Pinterest. As it turns out, we didn't find it quit as easy as it seems.
When we cut the footboard for the arms (which would also work as the front legs) we cut it crooked. So...no arms it is!
Then, the wood we used to build the seat was too soft to support the front legs. At this point we thought that maybe we should just cut the back legs off and turn this thing into a swing!!!
Instead, it sat and sat and sat in the garage.
Fast forward to April...
our friend, Steve, asked me about painting a sign for his business.
I said, "of course" and asked for advice about the bench (did I mention he's a builder?).
He agreed to fix the bench in exchange for the sign.
And now the bench reveal...
And, here's the sign I painted for him...
Steve made the sign out of salvaged wood...
Then, I whitewashed it and added the detail...
And, after sitting for months in my garage, I'm happy to report that when I took the bench to the shop, it sold in less than a week!
