All You Need Is Love- Valentine Art

I had been eyeing these Tim Holtz burlap canvas panels
for awhile. I wasn't sure what I would do with them, but for $8, I couldn't pass them up. And, I knew something would come to me!

With Valentine projects in full swing, I decided they'd be perfect for this idea that kept running through my head...

I picked out a piece of scrapbook paper
& using my Cricut, I cut triangles to make a banner...

Then I cut slightly smaller triangles using brown cardstock
to go on top of the patterned paper...

Using a ballpoint pen,
I wrote letters to spell out,
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE...
 You could stamp the letters,
but I wanted them to be less perfect
& more whimsical.

I inked the edges of all the triangles to distress them a little,
then glued the smaller triangles onto the larger ones.
I placed the triangles on the panel & when they looked the way I wanted, I drew a curved line using a red Sharpie. Then I came back with a brown Sharpie to tone down the red a bit.
The line doesn't have to be perfect because most of it will be covered with the triangles.

I used tacky glue to adhere the triangles to the line.

Then I drew out my next line after
deciding on the placement of the triangles...
I glued down the next set of triangles,
& continued with the bottom row...

I cut out a piece of burlap & painted a heart on it...
I used red acrylic paint and then
blended in a little brown...

I inked the edges of a mini clothespin, attached it to the burlap with the painted heart, & glued the clothespin to the panel using E6000.

For the second panel,
I added a painted heart at the top,
& then spelled out,
LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED.

These could be hung separate,
but they sure look cute together...

I think they could stay up year round,
not just for Valentine's Day!
