Life Is Too Short To Fold Fitted Sheets

Ain't that the truth?
(My mother would not be happy that I just used the word ain't!)

I hear that some people actually like doing laundry! I'm not one of them. Ironing was relaxing for my mother. That didn't get past on to me. If something is wrinkled, I just throw it back in the drier and hope for the best. Thank goodness for washers & driers! It must have been awful to have to wash clothes on a rock!!!

I have added some fun decor outside of my laundry room to try and make it a little more inviting. Inside the laundry room, however, is a disaster so you won't be seeing that. Maybe someday.

The walls are painted a cheery yellow. I found this great vintage clothespin holder at a local antique store.

For some of you younger readers, you may not have ever seen these. The bag was filled with clothes pins & the wire would hang over the clothes line and slide along with you as you hung the laundry out to dry.

Doesn't she look like she's having fun?

When I bought this it was still filled with vintage clothespins, which it still holds!

Check out how much this bag cost back in the day?

I paid $12 for it.

I made a sign to hang above my laundry room door.
I used an artist block and painted it cream. I then cut out the vinyl letters I wanted on my Cricut. I placed them on the board and painted over the entire board with blue. I peeled off the letters and sanded the whole thing down and aged the edges a little.

Now at least it's cheerful before I get in the laundry room!!!

  1. I love the area outside of your laundry room! It's soo cute. I love the vintage clothespin holder, those vintage clothespins look awesome! And like you said Ain't That The Truth! I tend to just roll up my fitted sheets :)

Hope you have a great day!

  2. I'm loving that sign above your laundry room door. Life IS too short to fold fitted sheets!

You've inspired me to spend some time making my laundry room pretty. So often it seems we forget the more "utilitarian" parts of our house. Maybe I'd hate doing laundry a *little* bit less if it felt a little more colorful and inspiring in there :) Maybe...

  3. Love the clothespin bag...so retro! I remember ours was just plain. I can also rembmer the forms or stretchers that you put in your jeans to help them keep shape while they dried.
As for folding sheets...I was folding some yesterday and actually was feeling a sense of accomplishment. I really know how to fold that troublesome fitted bottom sheet and that makes all the difference in the world--thanks, Mom. With that said, I sometimes will let a clean basket of laundry sit in the basket until the NEXT day (you can do that if it's just t-shirts, socks and undies). There is really something wrong with me!

  11. Too cute! And my mother liked ironing too. So weird! She would iron my dad's work shirts and sometimes I got stuck with the chore...must be why I hate it so much now...ha!

So many of us have the hardest time with our own "mt. washmore"s but the way you've decorated your laundry room, inside and out, makes one feel happy to just get 'er done. I am inspired to spruce up my own. Love it! After your work, come on over for a glass of lemonade at my place!
